Who is this woman?

Did I marry well or what? Doesn't look like Jaymi to me, but it is. (I find both versions to be quite attractive.) We're chillin' at Red Rock waiting for a table...

Orbea in January

While those in the eastern US are enjoying the more positive aspects of global warming, we westerners are encased in ice. It's about 10 degrees outside and should hit zero by midnight.

Today, however, it was much warmer: low 20s, sun shining, relatively clean air. So I went for a ride while Jaymi and Max went shopping. We arrived home at the exact same time (really), which turned out to be a convenient photo opp.

Today's destination was the Cows loop (so named because it passes cow pasture north of the airport. I do like cows.) Didn't actually make it that far due to frozen ears and a late start, but you can click the above link to view the regular route. Slick, ey? This all made possible by the Garmin Edge 305 GPS-based cycling computer, which is just about the coolest thing I've ever purchased. In addition to recording my exact coordinates on Earth with every pedal stroke, it keeps track of my heart rate and cadence. Unfortunately I rode sans-Garmin today, so the above link will show you a ride from August 8th of 2006 (which happens to be the last day I rode this particular Cows route before favoring the more interesting Emigration Canyon and Wasatch Loop.)

Max in the ER

Max developed a stomach flu last week and ended up in the emergency room to treat his dehydration. When we arrived at the hospital his eyes were sunken and purple and his weight a thin 17 lbs. The boy didn't look so good. We spent the night in the Rapid Treatment Unit and left the next morning around 10 o'clock. He's been smiling ever since. (Jaymi and I snapped a few pictures on my camera phone. Bottom: On the bed waiting for the IV. Top: The next morning stuffed full of liquids, with Thumb Sucking Monkey in hand. Look at that puffy face!)

Partying in NYC

This picture was taken at the apartment of our friends Tim and Camille for Tim's birthday (2005). We happen to be in New York along with our friends William (far left) and Ann, Andy and Brittney (my left), and... Hilde and Stew!

Ha Lola! Ha Ruby!

Our girls. Aren't they cute? Max would say "ha!" (that's Hi), standard greeting to all things that move. These pictures of a brand new Ruby and sleepy Lola taken just before Jaymi's 32nd birthday in 2005.

While browsing photos I'm also browsing the latest issue of GQ (Jaymi decided I should have a subscription for some reason). New Lance Armstrong/Nike ad says: "Sometimes you just need to put the fork down and step away from the table." Words to live by.

Masked momma greets the New Year

Our good friends William and Ann host a fabulous New Year's party each year at their home. This year Max and I stayed home while Jaymi worked double duty. The photo is of Jaymi with our friends Andy (center) and Tim (right).

Sock Monkey Debut

It's 2007 and about time we Petersens created a spot in the blogosphere. In Max's kingdom monkeys rule. Sock Monkey is the evil one; he talks like a sailor and is known to sock Max in the kisser. You don't want to meet up with Mr. Socks in a dark alley, but you do want to read his blog. We'll see how it goes; neither of us are very good at keeping this sort of thing up-to-date. (I snapped this photo of Max this morning. He's most happy on his feet.)
